A.R.T. Ballista Twin Turbo
A.R.T. Ballista Twin Turbo #1800

Simply put, it's the Worlds Fastest, Street Driven, Street legal Viper!

Currently Holding the World Record in the Standing Mile of 240.9 mph.

It started as a 2006 Dodge Viper Srt-10 Coupe.
When choosing the Dodge Viper platform, we spent a great deal of time and
energy, selecting the strongest and safest host vehicle to transform.
The Viper is not just "American Muscle", it's the epitome of the legend
of true American Muscle.

The Ballista Twin Turbo drives on pump gas, with over 1200hp.
It simply turns into to a ballistic rocket on race fuel!

As you can see in the videos below, it is as stable as a rock.
There are not many vehicles that can run 240 mph plus and maintain that kind of stability.
See for yourself, how little effort is needed to keep it racing through the mile at that speed!

To experience such power and grace is something only a handful of people will ever do.
Once experienced, it's very hard to drive anything less, as it takes with it a piece of your soul.

Those rare individuals, who get a chance to drive the Ballista, say the same thing.
"We dream about it" Even months later, you wake up at night thinking
about how awesome it was to drive!

The body is wrapped in carbon fiber vinyl. It is not a carbon fiber body replacement,
but rather, a textured wrap over the original body. Carbon fiber is too smooth, and
We needed the ripples on the surface, for the stabilizing effect it provides at
extreme speeds. The benefits of a carbon fiber skin are nothing compared to the
strength of the safety cage enhanced frame. Weight savings offers little benefit
beyond the 200mph mark, so we spared nothing to gain extra safety.

How fast will it go?

Based on power levels achieved already, gearing, and our rpm potential,
the Ballista Twin Turbo can exceed 350 mph. You must remember however, it
is being run in the standing mile, not in an all out top end race.

Don't think we haven't considered it, but the science involved is much
different, and requires a custom tire design. We may in the future look
at unleashing the Ballista to its top speed potential. But, we have it
currently engineered for the standing mile.

We have been invite all over the world, and perhaps we will one day see
its true top end speed.

The Ballista did run 247 mph at the 3/4 mile mark, barely in 5th gear.
In fact it was still accelerating at over 1g when the gear broke from
our slightly over protective boost cut.

Our biggest reason for not going right back out with a new transmission
was safety. We were simply out of stopping room in Goliad, and the shutdown
in Beeville is terribly, dangerous as many how found out. We are adding
electronic chute deployment and dual parachutes for the next time out.

As to the Quarter mile!!

There is a lot of hype and crap talk on the internet, and some claim that the
quarter mile drag race Viper's could go faster in the mile. Besides the obvious
fact that they haven't, the quarter mile is over in 6 seconds. There is almost no
need for cooling of any kind, and aero has only marginal impact under 200mph.

Can the Ballista run in the quarter mile?
Sure, but who would waste it on that?

When you have to run your power plant at full power and torque for a mile, heat
and fatigue are difficult to predict and prevent. Science and precise engineering
are the key attributes for success. Unlike salt flats racing, the surface of a runway
can handle the power, so we are under extreme loads every inch of the way.

We do not have the luxury of running 2 speed power glide automatic GM transmissions,
like quarter mile Viper's do.

In fact, we are running the factory 6 speed transmission that Dodge built the cars with.
We still shift it manually, by clutch pedal and driver. Imagine how quick the Ballista
would be, if we replaced the transmission with a clutch less shifting automatic...
Think about it! To not give up any power or speed between shifts, as we currently do.

Another thing, Drag slicks don't hold up to the mile, so the outrageous launch of a drag car
is almost forfeited completely. Not to mention the small tires used in the front end of a drag
Viper to reduce unsprung weight and drag, would be hard pressed to hold up to the braking in
the mile, which leaves no window of safety on the table for the driver, or this case victim
behind the steering wheel.

So, we will re-engineer the Ballista backwards to a Quarter mile car?
If you seriously ask then, No!

So, you could say that talking crap about it, isn't doing it!

We encourage, and would respect some actual Viper competition.
Seeing another Viper in our range, only further validates the Viper as the platform of
success in this insanely fast realm. Although we sit on top now, sooner or later,
someone will take what we have learned and go further with it. We will however,
always remain in the history books as true pioneers.

Only a handful of individuals can even engineer a world record standing mile vehicle,
and even fewer still, have done it.

Will we be competing in the Standing mile again?
Absolutely!

Engineering through Science is our faith, and we use that every step of the way.

No one has even come close to our record, so we have no pressure to prove anything.
When we return to the mile again, we intend to raise the bar a few notches higher each time.

The data from every pass takes months to break down and learn from. We are in no hurry
to strap a rocket to a lawnmower and say we broke a world record. If we went back
to the design table and started from scratch, we would still start with a Dodge Viper.

Will we be shooting for the street car world record?
How can we not...?

We out displace, out torque, and out horse most everything running on the street.

We did not modify the original body to turn a street car into some salt flats sled.
There are no down force modifiers, or wings added, and we don't sport a trashed interior
any self respecting person would be embarrassed to drive.

We built a scientifically engineered platform that focused on the benefits of a
Dodge Viper Srt-10 Coupe. It's street legal, and as drivable as a regular street Viper.
The stereo works, and the Ballista is a blast to drive on the street! It has the interior,
and we do not intend to change any of that. We engineer and design some of the
world's fastest and most powerful street vehicles for customers everyday.

As we like to put it, "We did not polish a turd into a diamond!" when creating the Ballista.
We started with a diamond and shaped it into a "Ballista Twin Turbo Legend".

The A.R.T. Ballista Twin Turbo is proof of the solid motivation and resolve of America,
and one more sledge hammer blow, further forging the legend of American Muscle!

"Thank you Chrysler, SRT, and DODGE, for the Viper"
The Viper remains a true Master Piece of engineering that anyone can own.
In our book, everyone should have the opportunity to drive a Viper, at least once.

For all of you "Die Hard, Viper Fanatics" out there.

"The Ballista Twin Turbo will race again".
Even if for no other reason, than for the true beleivers.

America still stands proud in the face of all manor of insanity in this world.

To many if us, the Viper remains a shimmering example of our American heritage and a solid
piece of the foundation we firmly depend on for our hopes and dreams.

Long live America, the Viper, and American Muscle, in all of its glorious splendar and legendary,
as well as world renowned and loved forms!
